About Our Club
Our History
The Elberton Lions Club was chartered on February 19, 1953 and has served the Elberton community continuously since that time.
We are part of District 18-I within the Lions of Georgia multiple district.
Who Are The Elberton Lions?
Our members are very different in many ways, but we share a core belief - our community is what we make it. That's because we help where help is needed. In short, We Serve.
Here are some of the things our club has done recently:
- Assist those in need in our community who are sight or hearing impaired. We help provide for eye exams and glasses.
- Provide monetary help and support to our community when a disaster occurs or with medical needs.
- Support Keep Elbert County Beautiful by adopting Petersburg Road and organizing several clean-ups throughout the year.
- College scholarships to deserving students who attend a major university or technical college.
- Provide monetary help to Safehouse Ministries, Inc.
- Support the Elbert County Band Boosters and academic boosters.
- At the State Level: Monetary support to: Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, Georgia Lions Children Eye Center, Georgia Camp for the Blind, and Georgia Camp for Diabetic Children.
- At the International Level: Monetary support to: Lions Leader Dog School for the Blind, Lions Projects for Canine Companion, and Lions Club International.
- Collect used eye glasses and hearing aids to refurbished and recycled to the needy in third world countries.
Lions are an international network of over 1.3 million men and women in over 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.
