EVENTS

Ham & Egg Supper

Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Elberton Civic Center. You may join us there to eat buffet-style or pick up a to-go plate. The menu includes sliced ham, scrambled eggs, grits, gravy, and biscuits. Your appetite will surely be satisfied with this delicious meal. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Please come out and join us! You may purchase tickets from one of our members or at the door.

Run for Sight 5k

Below is information about our 2016 run, but we have not finalized our date in April 2017 yet.

Saturday morning at 9 am on April 9, 2016 at the Elbert County Comprehensive High School. This is our 14th year and is our biggest source of funds. T-shirts will be guaranteed to all pre-registered participants and as the supply lasts for those registering on race day. Pre-registration is $20.00 (if postmarked by 3/30) and $25.00 afterwards. Packet pickup will begin at 7:30 am on race day. We will be offering two $150 prizes this year! The fastest male runner has to beat last year's time of 19:54.7. The fastest female runner must beat last year's time of 23:59.5. Cash winners must be age 21 or older. Up for the challenge?

The 5K course will start and finish at the Elbert County Comprehensive High School. The course will wind through adjacent neighborhoods before returning to the school. The high school is located at 600 Abernathy Circle just off of Jones Street.

Awards will be presented to Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, and the top three male/females in age groups beginning with 10 and under up to 75 and over. The finish line is being managed by Classic Race Services and the results will be posted online within 24 hours at classicraceservices.com, active.com, runningintheusa.com, and coolrunning.com.

Mop & Broom Sales

The Elberton Lions Club is proud to offer high-quality mops and brooms for sale to the public. By purchasing a mop or broom, not only are you supporting your local community, but you are also helping a person in need.

Prices range from $5 to $11. Please contact a club member or email us to make a purchase.

PROJECTS

Recycling

Eye glasses & Cell Phones. Please donate your old eye glasses and cell phones. They are recycled or reconditioned to be used by people in need. Contact us and we'll be glad to receive them.

Other projects:

  • Assist those in need in our community who are sight or hearing impaired. We help provide for eye exams and glasses through the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation: www.lionslighthouse.org.
  • Provide monetary help and support to our community when a disaster occurs or with medical needs.
  • College scholarships to deserving students who attend a major university or technical college.
  • Provide monetary help to Safehouse Ministries, Inc.
  • Support the Elbert County Band Boosters and academic boosters.
  • Support various other local groups and charities.
  • At the State Level: Monetary support to: Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, Georgia Lions Children Eye Center, Georgia Camp for the Blind, and Georgia Camp for Diabetic Children.
  • At the International Level: Monetary support to: Lions Leader Dog School for the Blind, Lions Projects for Canine Companion, and Lions Club International.
